OUTDOOR PLAY #1

This week we held the first Outdoor Play session at Global Gardens. These sessions aim to support family-based outdoor play in the setting of the Global Gardens plot.

We were excited to welcome nine families to the session.

Led by Johana Hartwig, artist and forest school facilitator and supported by Stephen Watts, Ediculture we began by creating the foundation of the gathering space for the Outdoor Play sessions - a log circle.

We used flour to mark out the paths and then kids and adults got to work sprinkling wood-chip on the markings and clearing the surrounding brambles.

After creating the gathering space, we sat on the log circle, made a fire and shared hot chocolate.

This was the first Outdoor Play session and we plan to host monthly sessions. If you would like to find out more, email: soilandclay@gmail.com.

Many thanks to the Co-op Foundation and the National Lottery Community Fund in Wales for making these sessions possible.
