In Juy, we were delighted to host a visit from the NESTA team as part of their annual away day. The team were offered two different activities: gardening or remedy making. In the garden, folks got on with tending to the orchard and in the classroom, we made a calendula and lavender healing balm. Setondji Sunshine Kitchen then fired up the pizza oven, offering pizza and salad for the team's lunch.
We asked Ella Sandelson, Programme Manager, Nesta to offer a reflection on the day...
"Our team had an incredible time visiting Global Gardens Project - it was a brilliant experience for our team from start to finish. It was wonderful to see the work of the project and spend time together in such a vibrant, community-focused space. Poppy and John put on some great activities for us - from an informative tour of the garden, giving people a chance to help with gardening and also having the opportunity to use freshly grown herbs to make a delicious smelling balm. We also had an amazing lunch made with lots of healthy and local produce as well as delicious pizza straight from the pizza oven. We left feeling energised, inspired with lots of new perspectives: about gardening, sustainability, and the power of community and benefits of spending time in nature. Highly recommend a visit!"
